VICTORIA BECKHAM FRIDAY

Today is the last fashion show for my little fashion compilation week and it has been so much fun to dig a little deeper in what the meanings and messages is behind the shows. And what goes on behind the scenes and who the people creating it are. Hope maybe we can do this again next time.

Victoria Beckham Fall 2024 collection, was definitely one of Beckhams most experimental shows to date but I could still clearly see it was her brand, still keeping this elegant (posh) vibe with the high tailored trousers, quality knitwear and flowy ballerina-like dresses. When I was doing research for this post many wrote that the brand hadn’t really found its core identity, but the last two collection I feel like it has fallen into place.

Victoria used a painting by a Julian Schnabel from the Sonanbul series, which has graced Victoria Beckham’s home for decades, as an inspiration for this collection. You could see this collection is especially close to her heart and almost the whole Beckham family was gathered there to support her.

The music starts and in walks a model in this black deconstructed blazer, sat in front and revealing the models back, which we saw multiple variants of throughout the show. Very cool concept, probably not so easy to manage in a day-to-day setting, but it looks very chic and innovative. Other pieces still had some clear reference to her Spring/Summer collection that was very inspired by her days as a ballet dancer. We saw these beutiful ballerina-length ball gowns with plunging necklines and voluminous skirts in a deep dark blue and simple white. Some pieces even included a hangers incorporated in the construction of garment.

Thank you for staying to the end, hope you enjoy it and will come back to read my next blog post. Go in and follow on my TikTok to know when I post.

PS. If you haven’t watched the whole show yet, then you can watch it on Victora Beckhams website and on Victoria’s own YouTube channel.

DURAN LANTINK THURSDAY

Now we’re over halfway through my little fashion compilation week. And todays show is Duran Lantink’s Fall Winter 2024 collection. I’m so excited for this one, I didn’t know so much about him or his brand before, so it was so fun to do research for this blogpost.

The Dutch fashion designer Duran Lantink grew up in Haag in the Netherlands, where he lived with his single mother. He started his fashion journey by crafting clothes for his Barbies as a six-year-old and cutting up is moms designer clothe to make new looks by using tape, safety pins and what else he could find. And now he has his own fashion label, wild. Before creating his own brand, Lantink got a bachelor’s in fashion from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, in Amsterdam, in 2013, and his master’s at the adjacent Sandberg Institute in 2017.

After Lantink graduated he started approaching stores to see if he could get their unsold designer clothe, to redesign it. He describes in an interview for “AnOther Magazine” that: “I start with a clothing rack of vintage pieces, and we start directly trying to figure out what to do with it,”. He explains “Almost all my clothes start with an existing piece, and from there, we start building around it, experimenting. In the end, we form a collection.” You would have no idee that everything was recycled or sustainable materials if you just saw pictures of his collection.

If you buy something from Duran Lantink its going to be a one of a kind. And if it should happen that the pieces of clothing you bought, should brake or you can’t fit it anymore, then you can simply just go to the brand and get it remake/recycled to something else. So, your pieces will always be unique. The brand has already designed custom pieces for cultural icons such as Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Janelle Monae and Solange.

This show, titled ”Duran-ski”, was almost like an art installation, exploring form and new shapes. The show starts with the Dutch model Rianne Van Rompaey in a cozy wine-red high neck sweater dress, padded on her bust and shoulder, pair with thigh-high stockings in same color, inspired by those worn by Dutch firemen in the 1970s.

Followed by a long row of sculptural art pieces with padded oversize shoulders and hips taking the volume to the extreme - emphasizing an hour-glass-figure. At a time when people are very concerned with physically taking up as little space as possible and being as slim as possible, it is an exciting statement that Lantink challenges his customers to dare to take up more space when they wear his clothes.

Thank you so much for reading this post. I really hope you enjoyed it and will come back again tomorrow. Tomorrows Fashion show is none other than Victoria Beckhams Fall Winter 2024 collection.

PS. I could not find a video of the whole show, but all the looks can be seen on Vogue runway.

SCHIAPARELLI WEDNESDAY

Today’s fashion show is Schiaparelli Fall Winter 2024 ready-to-wear collection designed by Daniel Roseberry. Roseberry was named as the house's new creative director in April 2019, taking over from Betrand Guyon. Before being assigned at Schiaparelli Daniel Roseberry worked at Thom Browne for many years. He was born and raised in Texas. And in this collection, we can definitely spot some Nods to his Texan upbringing, like fringe, buckles, riding caps and denim and most notable the faux hair ties and cowboy boots.

The show was held at Schiaparelli’s Palace Vendome in the centre of Paris. Daniel Roseberry wanted to show some more everydayness and focusing instead on everyday pieces while still keeping the spirit and creativity of the founder Elsa Schiaparelli and not losing identity of the house. Roseberry explained “What they want from us is still this humour, this creativity, but made effortless,”. And that exactly what he did.

Mona Tougaard opened the show in a relaxed grey tweed suit, at first glans it might look like a basic grey suit. However, when you look closer you can spot tape measure embroidery along the lapel, gilded buttons, and mini keyhole cut-outs. Each piece exudes elegans and sophistication and yet still have this playfulness we all love. The colour palette was very evident and contained black, white/crème, grey, gold and denim.

You can’t mention Schiaparelli without talking about their quirky crazy jewelry and surreal accessories. The beautiful gold statement pieces, including ears, noses, seashells, chains and keyholes, are a big part of the house’s characteristics and ingenuity.  The collection featured the all-time classic Face Bag, a keyhole bag and The Schiap – that refers to the design of the house’s groundbreaking “Shocking!” 1937 fragrance made by Elsa Schiaparelli.

Thanks for reading this post. I really hope you enjoyed it and will come back tomorrow to hear about Duran Lantinks Fall/Winter 2024 collection from Paris Fashion week.

PS. If you haven’t watched the whole show yet, then you can watch it on Schiaparelli’s official YouTube channel.

PRADA TUESDAY

Todays Fashion show is Prada Fall Winter 2024 collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. They truly are a dynamic duo those two and have ones again made a fabulous collaboration to make a spectacular fashion show for us.

So, what happened at the "Instinctive Romance" Prada show. Well, Simons and Prada wanted us to look back at the history to see how we dressed in troubled times and to remember those lessons we have learned through time and made us who we are today. As Mrs. Prada said: “Anything we are comes from our past”.

A lot of the clothe reminiscent of 1940s wartime attire such as bomber jackets and made a sharp contrast to the delicate silk lingerie you could spot underneath. The creative dynamic duo loves to play around with contrast such as combining the feminine and sensual with the robust wool war attire and strong oversize power suits. There are both elements of power and vulnerability in each garment.  Shown most strongly with the robust oversized double-breasted blazers combined with the more fitted and flowing silk backs.

The clothe was artistically deconstructed to show all the layers underneath and the complexity of humans, their history, and the life we live. For example, dark wool skirt or aprons revealing in the back a exquisite silk petticoat in light colors.

This year it seems like headwear is making its way back on the runway, as we saw it, both at Chanel and Saint Laurent. At Prada almost every model on the catwalk wore either military inspired caps, pillboxes or 1960s beehive inspired hats which elongated the look and gave an elusion off the models being very tall and slim. The colorful headpieces were made in velvet and feathers to play on the texture and some of them almost looking like hair.

The models were walking on this transparent floor, also used for the last men’s show, where flowing rivers, plants and grass was flourishing underneath their feet in its own little spring ecosystem. Taking the nature inside. Here is what Miuccia Prada said about the transparent floor in an interview from Prada Men’s FW 24-25 show: “The alternation of seasons allows humans to continue looking at the world with new eyes. The ritual of spring has inspired generations of musicians to reinvent themselves… seasons have been the most recurring theme in all schools of painting… fashion aspires to the same renewing effect”.

Thank u so much for reading this post. Hope you enjoyed it and will come back for tomorrow for Schiaparelli Fall Winter 2024 collection. If you still haven’t got enough off Prada, then Vogue has just done an interview with Miuccia for the cover of Vogue march wearing a vintage look from her first collection. You can also hear more about it on the podcast “The run through with vogue”.

PS. If you haven’t watched the show yet then you can watch it on Prada’s own website.

GUCCI MONDAY

This is the first blogpost of my fashion week where I have chosen one fashion show for every weekday of the week, to write about. (If you like this idea maybe we can do it next time there’s fashion month.) And first up is the Gucci Fall/Winter 2024 womenswear.

I am so here for the new Gucci era that Sabato de Sarno is bringing, it is so elegant, wearable and beutiful but still with a twist of some weird colours or at least not the first I would have chosen, but it really works, like REALLY works. The colour palette is much like Sabato’s debut collection for Gucci called “Ancora”, with the dominant red, lime green and mustard yellows. This time he also brought out some light blue, bright pinks and a little bit of orange. Also saw some more glitter and normally I’m not a big fan of sequins but when is done with such grace as Sabato does, then I don’t mind it at all.

I truly loved his debut collection and this time he didn’t disappoint me either. The show starts with a soundtrack made by Mark Ronson who also did last season’s music. Then a model in a short black coat with Gucci’s signature GG belt and thigh high boots walk out to the beat of the music.

The bags where again amazing, Gucci always knows how to make a great bag. And the shoes Wow, love the horsebite Loafers elevate on platforms, such a fan also just the elevated loafers from last season. There definitely not easy to walk in but what people wouldn’t do for fashion.

The styling of the models where great both the hair and makeup complimented the clothes so well without take away the spotlight. Personally, I didn’t love the neck pieces, but I guess they did tie the concept together.

Thank u so much for reading this post. Hope you will come back tomorrow to read about Prada Fall/Winter 2024 womenswear by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons.

PS. If you haven’t watched the show yet then you can find it on Gucci’s official YouTube channel.

GRAMMY GLAMOUR AT THE RED CARPET

The Grammys always bring out phenomenal looks and iconic moments from all the best musicians in the industry. And this year’s Grammy was no exception. Taylor announcing a new album, Sofia Richie showing the baby bump, Celine Dion attending and Miley´s first grammy. And when it comes to fashion it didn’t disappoint either. There was everything from Madison Beers big gown, to Boygenius matching tailored suits, to Halle Baileys nude Gucci dress. Yet two “trends” that really stood out to me on the carpet was metallics and sheer/nude dresses.

Metallic fabrics dominated the red carpet this year at the 66th Grammy Award show in Los Angeles. One of the best dressed of the night was without a doubt Dua Lipa in a silver custom Courreges dress. It almost looked like she was wearing armour and she herself said in an interview that ”It just makes me feel very strong” wearing it. Harper’s Bazaar also wrote “it really feels more Joan of Arc (a national heroine of France) than anything. Then again, we’re sure the early feminist would have also been a Barbie stan”. She paired the dress with jewelleries from tiffany & Co. including a big statement necklace containing of two koi fish kissing.

Another in silver was Alessandra Ambrosio in a floor length latex dress. Then we of course have Miley Cyrus in a gold custom made Maison Margiela dress designed by John Galliano. The red-carpet look was almost entirely see-through and was crafted from 14,000 gold safety pins in various patterns. They formed a high collar, round chest coverings, and a thick thong. There was many more that wore metallic such as Victoria Monet in a bronze costume Versace and Chloé in gold Gaurav Gupta cutout dress.

Another trend we saw on the red carpet was celebrities wearing sheer gowns. One of them was Halle Bailey the tight nude shimmery Gucci dress. She looked amazing, but it felt like we’ve seen this dress many times before. It made me think of Marilyn Monroe´s nude dress that Marilyn wore at JFK´s birthday gala. Another celeb in nude sheer dress was Paris Hilton, it had green stones on it and an almost spiderweb like pattern. Felt way more original and very Paris. There were lots of other sheer dresses including Claudia Sulewski, Doja Cat, Coco Jones and Vik Hope.

I felt like the colours where quite toned downed this year, we didn’t really see anyone going totally crazy and if we did see a bright colour, the outfit was all monochrome. Like Kylie Minogue in a bright “Padam Padam” red Dolce and Gabbana dress. But the majority of people were dressed in black, white or brown.

For example, we have Olivia Rodrigo looking amazing in vintage Versace worn by Linda Evangelista on the runway in 1995. The gorgeous white dress had thin straps and was dotted with small delicate red and white beads. Another one wearing Versace was Jon Batise in a monochrome grey Versace suit-ish thing including a knee length skirt. Tyla who just won her first Grammy for “Water” were also wearing Versace. It was this light-green cutout dress looking like she had just step out of the water, this is how I imagine a siren on land looks like.

Did you see the sweet video of Taylor fixing Lana´s hair before going on the carpet!! Such a cute moment. Both looked really great, and many newslets dubbed Taylor swift one of the best dressed at the Grammys this year. Taylor wore a white dress and long black gloves from Schiaparelli and jewels from Lorraine Schwartz. It was a very Sculptural dress and made her look extremely powerful.

Lana Del Rey, I don’t think it was one of her best looks, but she definitely looked very beautiful, and the style did perfectly fit her romantic and mysteries vibe. I actually preferred the dress she wore the evening before, at Clive Davis´s Pre-Grammy Gala. On the red carpet Madison Beer looked like a character out of one of Lana´s songs in a big strapless white gown with a little tiny bow in front.

We had multiple celebrities and artists in the new Louis Vuitton collection by Pharrell Williams. The cowboy themed one. Most notable was Beyonce who is still very much in her Renaissance era. Beyonce LV-outfit consisted of a collarless Damier leather jacket with studs, matching bottoms, white button down with blue buttons and a big white cowboy hat. Blue Ivy Carter (her daughter) was in a beautiful Vivienne Westwood gown.

Ice Spice obviously rocked up in a Y2K/hiphop inspired outfit by the brand Baby Phat which dressed celebrities like Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, and Lil´ Kim. She did an amazing job at bringing this 2000s hiphop style yet a little more elevated and still being true to her own taste in fashion.

Billie Eilish was channelling Barbie all the way through the show. The first look felt very Billie when she walked the red carpet in a vintage oversized Barbie Chrome Heart bomber jacket featuring light pink sleeves, cute silver heart-shaped buttons and "Barbie" embroidered. Paired with a white untucked button-down shirt and black dress pants.

She performed in the exact outfit of the 1965 Poodle Parade Barbie which she posted on her Instagram story. The Barbies outfit included a long jacket with a white and lime-green tartan pattern, as well as a matching green midi dress layered over a barbie pink turtleneck sweater. Billie accessorized the look with a matching shiny pink headscarf and finished off the look with a pair black cat-eye sunglass.

There were so many more fantastic looks I could write about however then this would go on forever. It has been so fun going a little deeper in what the musician was wearing and the meaning behind the outfits. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. And thank you so much for staying to the end.

MY FASHION PREDICTIONS FOR 2024: OFFICE SIREN, 90s SUPERMODEL OF DUTY & ECLECTIC GRANDPA

So this is my predictions on what’s going to be “in” this year, in 2024. What will people wear, and which accessories are going to be on top off everybody’s wish list. I have read a lot of articles and looked at many, like many, runway shows, to see what they have in common and what they predict is going to be “in” this year. So here are my predictions for this year’s trends.

Jeans, let’s start there, what going to happen. I think the jeans is going to get slimmer, the next years. But not like skinny skinny jeans, more like a bootcut or straight leg jeans, just slimmer trousers in general. They are not super skinny just not as baggy as the jeans now. I don’t think baggy jeans is out of the picture at all, only that we are properly going to see some of them shrink a little bit, or be a little more fitted.

We have seen multiple celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratakowski wearing similar and tighter styles of denim. Plus, the menswear shows, such as Fendi, Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton, have featured more streamlined trouser silhouettes. Also, the female models stomp down the runways in skinny jeans and leggings at Bluemarine, Saint Laurent, Prada and Diesel, they are all attempting to bring the look back. Personally, I don’t see the world being ready for real 2010s skinny jeans (there are still some unresolved traumas there) but maybe a more fitted style.

I just watched the menswear Dior show and it appeared to me that most of the menswear shows had a pop off colour in their collections. Dior with the colourful shoes and socks, Prada with the swimming caps and belts, and Gucci with the gloves and bags. Not necessarily in the same shades, but all a pop of a bright colore on a minimalistic outfit.

Last year we mostly saw red accessories, especially red handbags. But this year I believe we are going to see this trend in many colours as we did on the runways. Colourful accessories are a great statement piece in your wardrobe and can make even a simple outfit stand out.

After looking at many of the runway shows I could definitely see that there had been an increase in handbag size. Especially Bottega Venetta had some huge handbags featuring in there summer/spring collection and they are known for being first movers when it comes to bag-trends.

Miu Miu also made their bags bigger, and the models carried unzipped bags overflowing with everything you could ever need in a handbag. And with that Miu Miu made the messy handbag trend, started by amazing Jane Birkin, popular again. We want to be practical and carry everything we need, that’s what bags are for. Of course, we still want to look good while we do it. In 2024 we want to dress more practical but still look our best. So, the runway has proved that the bigger the bag, the better.

I don’t know exactly what I would call this style, but think kind of preppy or Noughties uni fashion with a little bit of royal in. Fashion is entering its posh Noughties era soon. Think young Kate Middleton and Prince William in their university years mixed with the Saltburn movie. In their Ralph Loren cashmere sweaters, low rise bootcut jeans, slouchy big handbags and lots of midi/miniskirts.

Miu Miu went all in on 2000s preppy schoolgirl/boy vibe in their spring 2024 collection, including polo shirts, low rise skirts and ultra-wide belts. (sorry for mentioning Miu Miu again but Miuccia Prada really knows what she’s doing). Fendi’s menswear fall 2024 collection was inspired by Princess Ann in the Balmoral highland. And last year we saw a lot of tights, knee high socks and Uggs. Instead of Y2K as we have seen the last years, I imagine we are doing a posh toned down 2000s instead this year.

The minimalistic 90s era is over us. Everybody is taking inspiration from the 90s, influencers, big fashion brands, celebrity and even romcoms has become a trend again. In the 90s we saw this minimalistic and elegant, shift from the wild and colourful 80s. Suddenly people want to look sophisticated and was more focused on the function, form, and good fabric. The fashion houses Calvin Klein, Jil Sanders, Prada and Ralph Lauren where some of those who ruled the 90s with their simple and elegant clothe.

In general, I believe we are also going to see more well-done tailoring, we want to be more aware of the climate and our world. And one thing we can do, is get well-made clothes that is timeless and will last us decades.

Now the 90s style is back with monochrome looks (normally in brown, navy blue, grey, beige, or black), elegant silhouette, silk slip dresses, cardigans and cute heels and loafers. Just really well-made clothe that always make you look effortlessly beautiful. And who doesn’t want to look like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy running errands, or Kate Moss off duty.

And with minimalism and the 90s fashion comes business chic / office core / office siren / geek chic or snarky secretary called it what you want. This whole going to the office thing. I personally really love this style, it’s very chic and feminine.

The office siren wears feminine tailored suits, tightfitting turtlenecks, pencil/mini-skirts, tailored button-ups, tights, boot-cut jeans, and skinny-fit trousers and most importantly, the super skinny glasses. For shoes she would go for a cute pair off kitten heels, a nice boot, or a ballet flats. The colour palette is mostly simple and natural such as grey, black, or beige. Cheetah print is also a “yes” in this trend as long as you keep it elegant. And cheetah print is so “in” right now.

Office chic appears in 90s-2000s and is very influence be romcoms and series, such as Gisele Bundchen in “The Devil Wears Prada”, Amanda Tanen from “Ugly Betty”, Rachel green in “Friends” and Lucy Wyman from the cult classic “13 Going on 30”, just to name a few. Now the biggest celebrities like Bella Hadid and Billie Eilish are fully embraced this trend and is wearing it on the street as well as on the red carpets.

Cardigans and sweaters have been so in last year and with that came the eclectic grandpa trend. If you haven’t yet heard of this trend, let me tell you about it. Eclectic grandpa style is kitschy knitwear, chic cardigans, loose button up shirts, loafers, and baseball caps. Celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Alexa Chung and Harry Styles has mastered this trend perfectly right now, maybe even being a part of creating it.

Thank u for reading all my trend predictions. Hope you enjoyed and maybe found some inspiration to your 2024 wardrobe. See you next time.

P.S would love to hear some of your predictions, feel free to comment them on my TikTok.

IN THE QUEENS CLOSET

Our very beloved Queen Margrethe ll (also called Daisy) unexpectedly announced in her New Year’s Eve speech that it would be her last and that her son Crown prince Frederik would take over the throne from the 14th of January. I think he and his wife Mary are going to make a wonderful King and Queen and make Queen Margrethe a proud mother. We will of course miss her on the throne. That is why I think we should take a look at some of her best outfits through the years.

On her wedding day to Prince Henrik in 1967. This isn’t one of her most typical looks, but I really think it suit her. It’s beautiful and simple and very classy and timeless (perfect for a royal wedding). On the dress she wore a Daisy brooch which she got as a gift from her mother Queen Ingrid, because of her nickname. Her mother loved flowers, gardening and art and passed that passion on to Margrethe. Queen Margrethe often wears daisies either on her jewels, hats, or dresses. And she has a special love for wild flower print.

You can divide her life in three periods when it comes to her style. When she was princess and the first years of being queen, her style was more minimalistic, elegant, and glamorous. As she got older, and more and more bold, Margrethe started wearing a lot of colours and wild prints. The gowns became bigger and bolder and some with puffy sleeves. In the last few years, she has toned it down a little bit, and is more discreet and elegant again, but has kept her creativity and colourful style.

I love this pink dress; pink is so her colour (VERY Barbie-core). Extremely 90s minimalism, focused on the construction of the dress. She became a style icon through her love of colour, accessories and fearless attitude. She is not afraid of standing out and showing her personal style and I think that’s why she is so popular. She uses the colours or prints to show her personality or agenda and because what comes out to the public eye is often pictures of her or her outfits, the clothes need to be spot on.

Aarhgg she is so cute here. She went viral with this waxy floral raincoat a few years ago. She designed the raincoat herself and often design some of her own dresses. The Queen is a self-taught artist and dabbles in painting and decoupage, has translated works by Simone de Beauvoir, illustrated Tolkien, created scenography and costumes for the Danish royal ballet. Recently Margrethe designed 51 costumes for the new Netflix drama “Ehrengard”. She is credited as set and costume designer on the film. Because she’s an artist, she has a totally incredible understanding of colour and how they work together. Her love of colours and history is also expressed in her paintings and costumes.

The Danish Queen loves spending her summers at Château de Cayx, her and her husband’s French château and vineyard in Cahors. There she wears way more casual clothes like wavy skirts and a t-shirt or a flowy dress, still in rich colours, of course. She is also often seen walking around at the local markets with a basket, Jane Birkin style.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark with her son Crown prince Frederik (soon to be king) on holiday in Megene, France in 1973. This maybe not the most stylist and you can’t totally see what she’s wearing other than a lovely sweater. But I love this picture of them, it’s just such a cute picture, and they look so happy together on their holiday.

This photo is from her official 40th birthday photo in 1980.

I read in an article somewhere, were they described her style as “Princess Diana meets Vivienne Westwood” which I think so true and sooo iconic. She reminds me a lot of Vivenne Westwood actually, never thought of that before. But it’s true, those two creative and strong women and both extremely inspiring and is/was fighting for a better world. And Diana was the people’s princess just as the Queen is for Denmark, both very loving and caring persons. If you have read my post about Diana, you would know that she loved to match her accessories just as Margrethe.

This is more tone down but still has this pop of colour with the cherry red bag and belt, also very in at the moment. We always love matching accessories. The dress works so well for her tall figure and give her a great silhouette. Moderne but still with a bit royal feel to it. She’s SO good at dressing for the occasion or event she’s going to. She has a perfect instinct for choosing appropriate clothes, for example for her official events like state dinner or evening balls, where she wears long evening gowns. And when in France she’s more low-key, like a cotton dresses. She knows how to stand out and be personal in her style, without going over the top.

This beautiful white gala dress was made by Pierre Balmain in 1967

The Danish designer Julie Brøgger (the woman behind the London-based brand Brøgger) said in an interview with Vogue “She outshines everybody. She doesn’t care what anybody thinks. She has this dramatic vision of how you can affect the public’s perception of you through your clothes.” Brøgger says “Her interest in the history of both her family and the monarchy shows in her gowns. My favourite Bender dress is a yellow silk brocade gown with a fur-edged jacket. In an interview, she said it was inspired by an old painting of a relative,” the designer recalls, referring to a royal look worthy of Catherine the Great.

Cute family photo in France with the Queen, her husband Henrik and their two sons Crown prince Frederik and Prince Joachim. She’s wearing this pretty red summer dress, perfect for the weather in southern France.

Here they are in a more formal photo. Again her dress is colour coordinated with her accessories, this time her beautiful blue jewel set. The photo is taken in one of their amazing palaces in Danmark. Fun fact, In Fredensborg castle her husband has a stuffed unicorn as a fun house decoration. It’s actually stuffed white deer turned into a unicorn with a spiral tooth of narwhale. Prince Henrik and the Queen also had a great love for art and dachshunds in common, and has the dogs running free in the castles.

Visiting the Danish Food Centre in Manchester during the ‘Denmark in Britain ’68’ festivities. Our very chic young princess Margrethe smoking a cigarette - which she is frequently photographed doing.

Here she is again with a cigarette in her hand and in this fabulous outfit. Also matching the shirt, scarf and hat in this red colour with white polka dots. And the white suit with the little white handbag. Again she is playing with the colours without going overboard and keeping it classy.

This isn’t one of my favourites, but it screams Queen Margrethe, and this is how I always will remember her, smiling and waving in the most colourful gowns (now it sounds like she’s dead, don’t worry she well and alive). I think that’s a good place to end this blog, see you next time.

Next week I’ll talk about what I think will be in this year 2024 and what I would like to see make a comeback in fashion.

P.S. thank you for reading my blog. Hope you liked it and will come back again.

MY GUIDE TO COZY PODCASTS, FILMS & TV-SHOWS FOR THE DARK WINTER TIMES

This week I thought I would give some ideas of what TV shows or films to watch and what podcast I like listening to over the winter break. So, here comes a few of my faves.

Fashion podcasts

My absolute favourite fashion podcast is “In Vogue” they are making it very interesting and do not loose me halfway through. They take up some very important or iconic moments in the fashion history from the 90s and noughties, like how the supermodels became a thing or how Calvin, Ralph and Donna marketed the American dream. It’s a great start if you are just getting in to fashion. You get a lot of useful knowledge and meet a lot of important insiders like stylists or photographers to hear their point of view. They also talk to a lot of famous people like Gisele Bundchen, Victoria Beckham, and Anna Wintour to hear about their experiences.

Vouge have another podcast called “The run-through with Vogue” which is definitely worth a listen. The podcast is more about pop culture such as films and celebrities. There are a lot of fantastic interviews. They recently interviewed the director Emerald Fennell on her new movie Saltburn. I am looking forward to watching it, the actors, the director, the styling and the locations - it looks amazing.

I-D magazine also makes a great podcast where they go in depth in specific topics like, how the skate went from the outsider sport to billion-dollar brand or how Berlin transformed techno and club culture. (Many magazines have podcasts, so search your favourite magazine to see what comes up). They made a great episode about Vivienne Westwood the Queen of punk, a lifelong activist and designer. We hear from her son, her granddaughter and even Vivienne herself.

Dior too have at least two podcasts.

And BOF (the business of fashion) also have one. This fashion podcast digs a little deeper into the industry. They interview important people working in the industry such as designers, models and editors-in-chief.

Just want to mention the podcast “Muses” by Chanty and Lynx. It is not directly about fashion but the people wearing it and their life. This podcast is about the muses in the music and film industry. They have episodes about Dolly Parton, Cher, Courtney Love and Brigitte Bardot to mention a few.

Podcasts

My new obsession is Olivia Neils podcast “Inner monologue.” It’s so fantastic to just hear someone talk about everything and nothing at the same time - very calming. She’s hilarious and very down to earth and extremely open about her life (so it’s not a listen for delicate souls, trust me). She also has the most amazing accent. Such a funny lightminded listen - can’t recommend it enough.

“Saving grace” is too a funny and easy listen. Hosted by GK Barry and every episode is a rollercoaster of emotions (mostly funny) as Grace and her guest shares their wild stories.

“Common chaos” hosted by longtime BFFs Cartia and Ashton - is more a podcast about the chaotic life of being a young girl. They tell stories about their own chaotic lives, and tips on how to manage your own. Very open convos and lot of laughs along the way.

Dua Lipa too makes a podcast “At your service” where she talks to celebrities and artists. She seems so sweet, it totally feels like you’re in a conversation between two normal people (even though its dua lipa and billie Eilish.)

For the Danes I can recommend “Like os” by Astrid Olsen where she interview influencers and actors, same vibes as Dua Lipa’s.

Formula 1 podcasts

If you want to listen to great interviews with formula 1 drivers and team principals, then you should listen to “Beyond the grid”. In “Beyond the grid” they both speak about driving and what happens on the track, but also about their personal life and hobbies beside racing.

Another excellent formula 1 podcast is “Going purple” with Lissie Mackintosh. If you don’t know her, she is an f1 representer and content creator.

The “Armchair Expert” Dax Shepard also has a f1 podcast called “eff won with drs”.

And “Screaming meals” is also worth a listening, If you like it a little less serious. It hosted by Indy car driver Marcus Armstrong, F2 driver Clement Novolak and James Blair. They tell a lot of fun racing stories from on and off track alongside their guests.

Cozy romcoms

What’s better to do in the holidays than to watch a cozy romcom, sit under a warm blanket with some hot chocolate. Off cause “The holiday” is a Christmas classic, I’m definitely watching that this year (again). “Bridget Jones diary” is one of my all-time faves. Another classic is “Nothing hill” I have only watched this once - but soo cute. An underrated romcom is “What’s your number” with a young Chris Evans and Anna Faris. Oh, and “The devil wears Prada” starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep so good too.

Fashion Documentaries

I watch a lot of fashion documentaries, but my two favourites are the Vivienne Westwood doc “Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist” and Alexander McQueen one, “McQueen”. They are soooo good - the way they just drape things on the models and create a masterpiece out of nothing, it’s insane. Both have a great story to tell and something they are fighting for. And so much creativity. Such amazing films - honestly.

Tv-Shows

I just started seeing Ugly Betty on Disney+. It’s about clumsy Betty who starts to work on a huge magazine called “Mode”. It’s kind of making fun of the “perfect” idea of the fashion world, where everybody is beautiful, skinny, and mean. The styling of the cast is incredible, and the locations always reflect the persons (like the office is all white, shiny and “perfect”, and at Bettys house is cozy and a little messy but matches her aesthetic).

Another two stylish TV shows is “Sex in the city” and “Gossip girl” both is happening in Manhattan but in different social ranks. Both shows are styled to perfection and fit the aesthetic of the show amazingly.

“Drive to survive”, the formula one Netflix series, also comes out with a new season in February so there’s still time to catch up on it before the new season. And Netflix always know how to create a little extra drama. The Beckham documentary is also an excellent watch. To hear from Davids Beckham what he went through, is incredible heartbreaking to see and how the whole nation hated him for one mistake (insane).

If you want more of a laugh you should see “Derry girls” it’s hilarious and this group of irresponsible Irish girls (and British James) get in all kinds of trouble.

“The great” is also a brilliant series with beautiful, updated Victorian style costumes. Elle Fanning and Nicolas Holt’s (as emperor and empress of Russia) powerplay is so funny to watch and well played.

Yesterday the second part of season 6 of “The Crown” dropped. And last week’s blog was about Dianas style so If you haven’t read it yet, you can read that afterwards.

If you like more dark series, you need to watch “Peaky blinders” - you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

My family and I are planning on going to the movies in the winter break. Haven’t totally agreed on what to watch yet, but I will update you on that. Thank you so much for reading, Hope you enjoyed the post and will come back next Friday.

Ps. I will post next week’s topic on my Tik Tok (Dagmarhee)

PRINCESS DIANA THE QUEEN OF FASHION

In honor of the new season of The Crown I decided to write about the amazing Lady Diana and her incredible style. I haven’t finished watching The Crown yet, but it is very good and very interesting to see the famous royal family from a more human perspective. Great thing to watch if you’re an F1 fan who is already bored of the winter break. But I wanted to write about her, because she is so known for her style and her kindness. And I feel like her outfits (mostly from the 90s) are very in now.

Lady Diana became the princess of Wales when she married Charles lll prince of Wales (and now king of England) in 1981. She is known for dominating the magazines in the 80s-90s with her impeccable outfits, witty humor, kind persona and charity work. Every time she went outside the door people all over the world needed to know what she was wearing. That to me it’s so interesting that one person can have so much impact on the world and the fashion industry. People where just so fascinated by her (you can’t really blame them).

Her style can very much be separated in before and after their separation. When she was married, she dressed way more modest, not as modest as the queen, but still. So that meant not to short skirts or too much cleavage, because as a royal you need to look presentable, always. In an interview once, Diana said she also had to dress to the weather conditions and that “the wind was her worst enemy”. She very often dressed to match the event/charity’s she was attending. For example, when she was wearing the white military-style skirt suit (by Catherine Walker) to watch a military parade.

She wore mostly English designers such as Catherine Walker, Bellville Sassoon, Victor Edelstein, Donald Campbell, and David and Elizabeth Emanuel. The Emanuels also designed her famous wedding dress made in silk, taffeta and lots of pearls. The dress featured a dramatic 25-foot (7,62 m) train and 153-yard (139,9 m) tulle veil and broke the record as the longest train in royal wedding history, properly in wedding history in general.

I think what really made her fashion so special was the way she accessorized with handbags, jewelry, shoes etc. The way she could match things by using colors to connect the whole outfit. She often used the sandwich method or went all monochrome. But if there is something the Royals is good at it is beautiful jewels and as they say, “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” and was also Lady Dianas. She had so many amazing pieces of jewelry both inherited, gifts and of course the ones she borrowed from the Queen. Diana was especially a big fan of pearls and big statement pieces. Lady Diana was also very known for her handbag collection and had multiple bags named after her. Such as the Lady Dior, Gucci Diana and the Tod's Di Bag (Originally called the D Bag).

Dianas favorite shoemakers was Jimmy choo, Tod’s and Manolo Blahnik. The shoes where often the exact same nuance as the dress, suit or bag. When she was still with the prince, she always wore flats or heels under 2,5 inches (6,35 cm). Because they where the same height, so she didn’t want to hurt his ego, but as the marriage feel more and more apart the higher the heels became. So, when Diana and Charles separated her wardrobe also changed, her skirts became shorter, her heels higher and she started wearing designers from all over the world, like Versace, Chanel and Dior. Her style also becomes simpler probably influenced by the 90s runway fashion. You really notice the shift in her style if you look at pictures of her and can very easily determine where she is in her life.

The most famous picture of Lady Diana is definitely “The revenge dress” which was a black off-shoulder dress paired with a pearl necklace and black Manolo Blahniks. She wore it the same evening that Prince Charles admitted his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles on national TV. And wore black to symbolize the death of the marriage, pretty brutal statement but true. Diana tragically lost her life in a car accident in 1997 in a tunnel in Paris. But she remains a big inspiration to people still today and is a person people really adore and look up to.

I think her style from the 90s is really in at the moment, with the slick, simple style. She had some great suits and simple dresses. And already in her looks from the 80s, you can see she really knew about colors and accessorizing. Especially her shoes with the kitten heels, and slingbacks is very in. She also loved metallic shoes paired with a matching purse and said that they go with everything. Diana was also a big fan off ballet core and often wore ballet flats, just like us today.

Thank you so much for staying to the end! Hope you enjoyed it!! New blog out next Friday, will post the subject on my Tik Tok throughout next week (dagmarhee).

MY THREE FAVOURITE F-WORDS FASHION, FORMULA 1 AND UMMM…

Fashion and formula 1 my two biggest obsessions at the moment. Honestly, I feel like they go pretty much hand in hand (maybe that’s just me who sees Fashion everywhere). Paddock fashion when the drivers, celebrity’s and WAGs arrive is always fun. And Lewis Hamilton always put on a (fashion) show. Fashion is kinda taking over my life, I think about it all the time. Mabye thinking of going to fashion school next year, but people at fashion school seems stress as fuck. So is it worth it, maybe, idk.

The beautiful woman in the old car is the French singer and actor Francoise Hardy. She reminds me a lot of the iconic Jane Birkin with their effortles beauty and boyish looks. Francoise´s style is also on point just like Janes. It is elegant, and easy to achieve, with the messy hair, the jeans, and pretty sixties minidresses. I really love the minidresses in that French sixty style (it makes me want to live in a Hollywood movie, set on the Riviera) I have thought of sewing one myself actually, and if I start now it will properly be finished by spring, if I’m realistic, maaaybe summer. It is also wayyy too cold at the moment. As I write this it is absolutely pouring down outside!

I’m listening to her songs now. Tip: great to concentrate to French music because you don’t understand a word (unless you speak French) and it is very pretty.

But Francoise most iconic moment is when she wore the famous Paco Rabanne metal dress that looks like armour, VERY fancy armour. You probably know what I’m talking about, because of the collab between H&M and Paco Rabanne. It is all over my fyp at the moment. Every fashion girly knows what I’m talking about. I quite like the collab especially the metal skirts and the orange set, the ORANGE SET absolutely stunning!!! Did you see Amalie Star in it: Gorgeous! Don’t know if I could pull it off though.

This weekend was the Las Vegas Grand prix and what a race. Lots of action and overtakes on this track. Finely a good race for Charles Leclerc after his unlucky dns in Sao Paulo, even though Max Verstappen did still beat him. He is so invincible at the moment, it wouldn’t at all surprise me if he also wins the last race, but let’s see what happens. And poor Lando Noris had a big crash. Really good to hear that he was okay after that, it looked very severe. All in all I think it was a great race.

Because of the time differences I first saw all the racing the next day and did first finish the race Monday morning. I normally watch the races in the early morning before my family gets up. I almost always wake up before them to enjoy my breakfast and coffee to a the tv(or a F1 race). I like the peace before the world gets up and it’s still dark outside, it feels like I have more hours in the day.

YES, it is Kate Moss at a Formula 1 Grand prix, but not any Grand prix, the Monaco grand prix. It is 1999 in Kate’s, prime time, she attends the Monaco grand prix and visit Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari garage, ICONIC. Michael and Kate attended Cannes Film Festival together after the race. On the race weekend she also wore an amazing full green Prada set from Fall 1999 a gorgeous collection with a lot of green and brown colours, very earthy vibes.

Thank you for staying to the end! Hope you enjoyed it!!

Ps. If you have something you want me to talk about, please come with your suggestions would love to hear from you!

Next week princess Diana and the crown

TO HOT TO BE A COLD MESS

Yesterday I told my friend that I was starting this blog (she was the second person I told, first was my mom, of cause) but she was so supportive, and said that she wished she would have the guts for that, but was way too afraid of people’s opinion, and to be honest me too! But I’m take a leap of faith and trying. But you know, what is the worst that can happen?

So, WELCOME to my blog. You can read it everywhere, on the train, sitting on the couch watching tv. You know, whenever you want to get a little update on the fashion world or whatever is going on inside my life or confusing brain.

I’m going to start my first blog post ever, talking about winter wear especially fur coats. It’s getting so damn cold outside, at least in Scandinavia, so it feels like a good start.

I really want a faux fur jacket I am so obsessed. Don’t know which colour, maybe white because I have a faux fur hat in white, could do a monochrome look. Or maybe in a brown natural colour, because that doesn’t scream statement (but isn’t a fur coat always little bit of a statement piece). (Idk, what do you guys think?).

Before it was only the very rich, high-end people that could afford fur coats and now all the IT girls has taken over and are buying them in vintage stores all over the world.

Fur is one of the oldest forms of clothing and has been used to keep people warm and stylish for centuries. Special fur coats where often associated with royalty, wealth, and power. But the first time we hear of fur as a social status kind of thing, was about 2000 years ago in the Ancient Egypt were emperors and high priest wore leopard’s fur. Since then, fur has been a status symbol, the more expensive and rarer the fur was, the higher you where in the social hierarchy. If you wore furs like leopard, red squirrel, marten, or Cheetah you belonged to the aristocracy. The fox, hare and beaver belonged to the middle class, and wolf, goat, and sheepskin the lower.

In the end of the 60s fur became more accessible than ever. Because the length of the coat simply shrunk and the fur times that were popular was cheaper, for example sheepskin. And in the 70s some designers started experimenting with faux fur and it became even cheaper.

People also started realizing the consequences of wearing fur and how the fur industry treated the animals. In the 90s, supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell participated in Anti-fur campaigns for PETA and the campaigns gained a lot of publicity. Years later even some of the big Fashion houses such as Gucci, Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Ralph Lauren and Chanel have banned the use of fur in their collections. And nowadays most people buy their fur coats in vintage shops or buy fake fur. The quality of fake fur is also way higher than it was in the 70s and you can barly tell them apart.

Another thing that is perfect for winter and layering, is sweaters and cardigans. It easy and warm and always looks very chic. I imagine a tight cardigan, perfect low rise baggy jeans a pair of sneakers or a cute kitten-heel that just tip out under the baggy pant and lots of jewellery (very elegant but still casual, very 90s). And you can have a simple white tee underneath or just a bra or a long sleeve if it’s cold.

But most importing layering. Layering is everything when it gets freezing outside. If you need inspiration on how to style sweaters or cardigans, I would take a look at Idunn and Sofie Vollan, and Iwana Cristal´s Insta. They are all so amazing at layering clothes without it looking clumsy.

Thank you for staying this far hope you enjoyed it (and maybe even learned something). I have already posted the second blog so if you aren’t bored of reading yet, you can read that too. Hope to post a blog every Friday (at least that is the plan).

PS. Please write or dm me if you have any suggestions to what you want me to write about.
